Maths: Properties of 2d and 3d shapes

Literacy: Suffixes – look at the root words and add the suffixes to great new words (use the pictures to help you)

Look at the images of the settings and use your senses like we did when imagining we were at the Great Fire of London to describe the place or scene.

History: Think about the activities we have already done surrounding the Great Fire of London. Imagine what it was like on the day and the events that happened. Take on the role of a newspaper reporter and describe the events of the day

Art: In art we have looked at colour mixing in previous weeks and using black and white to add shade and tone into other colours making them lighter and darker. Use the colours red and orange to create your own fire picture like the flames of the Great Fire of London. Then create silhouettes of the houses on pudding lane using black card or paper.

Here is an example showing what yours could look like…

Geography: Look at the four points of the compass and discuss North, East, South and West. Ask the children to follow your directions around the house. Then have a go at following the instructions on the map

Literacy: Look at the activities below

History: Look at the pictures and retell the story of the events of the Great Fire of London in the correct order.

Geography: In Geography we have been looking at our capital city London. Can you find London on the map?

PSHCE: It is important to talk about our thoughts and feelings. Talk to your grown up about all the things you are grateful for in your life and why.

Can you find England?

                                           Can you find Sunderland?

History: This half term the children will be exploring ‘Bright Lights Big City’ looking at the history of London and the Great Fire which started in the bakers on Pudding Lane in 1666.

Can you research the Great Fire of London and find three facts to share with others in the classroom. They can be about how and when the fire started, the people involved, events that happened and how it was resolved. We can’t wait to hear what you have found.

Art: In art the children will be using shading and toning to create scenes of colour from the Great fire of London. The children will explore creating lighter and darker shades of reds, oranges and yellow to bring their fire pictures to life. Have a go at mixing red, oranges and yellows with paints to see if you can create a range of tones. If you don’t have paints try pressing on lighter and heavier with coloured pencils to create different tones. Here is a fire picture to help…
