Over this half-term we have been looking at the Stone Age and learning about all aspects of Stone Age life. We have been reading a book called ‘The Stone Age Boy’ and have worked really hard on our sentences, to write our own sequel to the story set in the future. We have linked the Stone Age to our Geography lessons, in which we did a walk of the local area, by comparing their environment to our current environment – looking at similarities and differences. In our maths, we have been working tirelessly on improving our mental maths skills and recall addition and subtraction facts really quickly! We began the half-term by celebrating the life of Roald Dahl on what would have been his 100th birthday and have loved reading the BFG and using art to create our very own big friendly giant! We are all looking forward to the next half-term and finding out even more facts about Stone Age life.
Over Christmas we enjoyed numerous activities in schools including making Christmas crafts, writing our own stories and doing our own Christmas-related maths activities. During the last term, we also had our Y3/Y4 Christmas play which we thoroughly enjoyed performing for you after a lot of hard work! Each child had a huge part to play in the fantastic singing that we did.
Looking ahead to the new term, we are starting our new topic ‘The Romans’ – in which we will also be learning about volcanoes. The children are already showing their fascination in this subject as we’ve received lots of pieces of work showing research children have done at home!
