Lateness:3 children were late this week

Please remember the school day starts at 8:55am and doors open at 8:50am so please try to arrive on the yard before this time to avoid being late. The children begin learning straight away, so even a few minutes lateness has an effect on education.

Reception – Miss Richardson

This week the children have been working hard to research information on the new topic ‘Under The Sea’. We looked at fact books and found out lots of new information about under the sea animals. This inspired us to make some under the sea animals such as whales, jellyfish and octopus.

On Tuesday morning we took part in a workshop delivered by the school nurse and health professionals. They discussed different ways of staying healthy and took park in activities looking at food, exercise, dental hygiene and overall hygiene.

This week, we have also been learning about floating and sinking. We made predictions on whether different objects would float or sink and then tested our predictions. The following day, we were set a challenge to make a boat that would float. We looked at different ways of joining our materials together and made a plan. Once we had made our boats, we tested them in the water tray to see if they would float.

RR4 RR5

In maths this week Reception have been learning about capacity. We started by ordering containers by their capacity. We then took part in an experiment and made predictions of how much a container could hold. In literacy this week we have been learning facts about under the sea. We looked in non-fiction books to find out new information. We used the pictures to help us identify the facts about the animals. We then ordered sentences about under the sea.
